Ian's day as a child are now over and we are very happy that we're able to give him an eventful childhood. In stead of him watching us work all the time we had tried to invest in his well being by spending a lot of quality time with him.
As his birthday was yesterday; Cy and I were once again faced with the dilemma of what to give him for his birthday. We quickly came to the conclusion we would think of his future and give him as much as we could before he had to start making decisions on his own. When Ian woke up, we told him to open the mail box as he received a gift. He opened it to find his first mounted fish! He ran into his room ready to decide where to hang it. I told he has one more gift. We walked outside where he found his dads old car. I presented it to him and he was never happier to go to school that morning!
While Cy went off to work, and Ian at school, I once again made the phone call to the renovators. I had the day off but I would spend it reading in the library. I wanted to be just as surprised as everyone else.
When we drove up to the house we almost didn't recognize it! We live in Summer Hill Court and our house has always been the about the size of our neighbor's kitchens but now we finally feel like we belong. I mean...we even have a second floor! Now isn't that exciting :D.
We showed Ian his room/apartment and he only wanted us to buy him a bed as he wanted to get a part time job and buy his own furniture. I am impressed but I did tell him, if he didn't want to work, he didn't have to and should be a kid for as long as possible.
I'm so excited with this new house and once again Cy and I's hard work allowed us to create a better future for Ian.
